What is duct tape?

Aug 13, 2025

Duct tape is a type of tape coated with polyethylene.

It uses cloth fibers and can be torn and cut by hand, eliminating the need for a knife. Duct tape was developed in the United States, and because the adhesive rubber used in the past was gray, gray products have become mainstream.

It is highly waterproof and offers greater adhesion and durability than duct tape. In Japan, aluminum tape used for construction purposes is sometimes referred to as duct tape.
