Product Introduction
It is not ordinary "duct tape"; it is a professional-grade material constructed from:
- A durable aluminum foil backing (often reinforced with fiberglass for strength)
- A high-temperature, pressure-sensitive adhesive (typically acrylic)

- Seal exhaust leaks: Fixes small cracks, gaps, or loose joints to reduce noise and prevent exhaust fumes from escaping.
- Heat resistance & thermal protection: Withstands high exhaust heat, protects nearby parts from overheating, and improves heat containment.
- Temporary repair: Acts as a quick, durable patch for rust holes or damaged exhaust sections (not always permanent but strong).
- Secure heat wrap: Holds exhaust heat insulation wrap in place.
Important Note
Not all aluminum foil tape works on exhaust.

How to install aluminum foil tape on exhaust?
Important Warning
Standard HVAC aluminum foil tape is NOT for hot exhaust pipes.Use only high‑temperature exhaust tape (rated 250°C–650°C / 480°F–1200°F).
Step 1: Prepare the Surface
- Let the exhaust pipe cool completely (cold to touch).
- Clean the area thoroughly with a wire brush or sandpaper to remove rust, dirt, grease, and carbon buildup.
- Wipe dry. The surface must be clean and dry for adhesion.
Step 2: Measure and Cut
- Measure the length needed to cover the leak, crack, or joint.
- Cut the tape longer than the damaged area so it overlaps on all sides.
Step 3: Apply the Tape
- Peel back a small part of the backing.
- Press the tape firmly onto the exhaust.
- Continue peeling and pressing slowly, without stretching the tape.
- Overlap each layer by 1/2 to 1 inch (1–2 cm) for a tight seal.
- For holes or cracks, wrap completely around the pipe if possible.
Step 4: Press and Secure
- Use a cloth or scraper to press hard over the entire tape surface.
- Make sure no bubbles, gaps, or loose edges remain.
Step 5: Cure with Heat
- Start the engine and let it idle to warm the exhaust gently.
- The heat will activate the high-temp adhesive and create a stronger bond.
Notes
- This is often a temporary repair. For serious exhaust damage, replace the pipe.
- Do not use near oxygen sensors or catalytic converters.
- Do not use regular HVAC tape - it will melt, smoke, or catch fire.
FAQ
Q1,Can I use regular duct tape instead of aluminum foil HVAC tape?
A1: No. Regular duct tape dries out, peels, and fails in heat/cold. Aluminum foil HVAC tape is heat-resistant, airtight, and designed for long-term ductwork.
Q2, How long does HVAC aluminum foil tape last?
A2: When properly applied on clean, dry surfaces, it can last 5–10 years indoors. Outdoor use may shorten lifespan, but reinforced UV-resistant tape can still hold for several years.
Q3. Is aluminum foil tape heat-resistant?
A3: Yes. Most professional HVAC aluminum foil tape withstands temperatures from −30°C to 120°C (−22°F to 248°F), making it safe for heating and air ducts.
Q4, Can I use it on wet or damp surfaces?
A4: No. The surface must be completely dry, clean, and dust-free. Moisture prevents strong adhesion and will cause the tape to peel or leak.
